Kathy has studied the Practical Aesthetics technique for acting at Atlantic Acting School in New York. As a director, she looks for plays with humor and a sound story. She enjoys working on new plays and helping playwrights to perfect their scripts. Thanks to her work as a producer, Kathy is one of the rare directors who can lead the promotion and marketing of a project as well as the creative efforts.
Prior to her career in theatre, Kathy worked in several of the country’s top television markets—including Tampa, Miami, and Grand Rapids—as a news reporter, anchor, and producer. She has also run marketing and communications departments for both Fortune 500 Companies and small corporations. One of Kathy’s tasks in the corporate world was to market a small company for acquisition. That company was eventually acquired by a Berkshire Hathaway Company. Kathy has been a successful producer and director of documentary films as well. Her first film won a PlanetOut/HBO Award in 2002 for Best Short Documentary. Her second project was acquired by the ACLU to air as part of its Freedom Files television series in 2007.
